Life is a Manderley, old chum

(OK, I’m only reporting this because I thought of the headline, but that’s how the tabloids do it, right?)

Apparently producers have raised $8 million of the $16 million needed to bring a musical version of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca to Broadway. There is also, of course, a film version from Dreamworks in the offing.

Adding a bit of interest to this story is that apparently some of the investors in a previous round of fundraising were fictional, leading to an arrest.

  3. I’ve been reading about this, the trials and tribulations of getting this musical to the stage. And I’m in the same camp of “mind boggling” at the prospect of it. I just have the feeling it’s going to lose something in translation. But if it happens, I’ll wanna go see it!
