Past Offences: Classic crime, thrillers and mystery book reviews 
As I got to be selfish and choose a year for which I actually own an unread book I shall sign up with Australian author Patricia Carlon’s 12th book – The Whispering Wall. We are truly bad at honouring (or even remembering) our classic crime writers here in Australia but this one got a re-release a few years back as part of a classics series from a local publisher

I’ve opted for THE SHIVERING SANDS, by Victoria Holt. Back then I devoured her books. Lets see if I still like them. The title is number 91 on the Good Reads list for 1969

I’m in…I don’t have a lot of of TBR books from 1969, so I’ll have to see what might work. I did read one earlier this year (as part of my own Mystery Challenge–it called for a birth year book and I happen to be a 1969 model). If you care to add it to the 1969 offerings it’s The Wilberforce Legacy by Josephine Bell.

Looks like the most likely suspect for reading here in October will Happiness Is a Warm Corpse, a 1969 collection of short stories put together in the name of Alfred Hitchcock.

And here it ’tis: Happiness Is a Warm Corpse> Not as in-depth a review this time–but I have a harder time doing that with short story collections.

I will be reading The Old English Peepshow (aka A Pride of Heroes) by Peter Dickinson. That means I first have to read The Glass-Sided Ants’ Nest (aka Skin Deep).
