The literary agency Peters Fraser & Dunlop (PFD) has launched a new publishing imprint, Ipso Books, which is starting out with some classic crime novels in digital format.
The debut list, launched in September 2015, selects books from some of the literary estates managed by the agency, including e-book only titles from:
- Margery Allingham
- John Creasey
- Edmund Crispin
- George Bellairs
- Eric Ambler
They say:
At our core is a blend of the innovative and the traditional, which reflects how we work and who we publish. We combine the flexibility and freshness of digital publishing with a strong belief in editorial and design excellence, placing the author at the centre of everything we do.
They’ve done a nice job with the covers, I think.
You can order a free John Creasey Department Z novel from here.
There’s a film of Tiger in the Smoke if anyone is interested….

It’s good too (or at least in my memory); doesn’t suffer from the lack of Campion.

Yes it is good–a bit strange–almost as if the film wanted to go a bit farther but didn’t quite dare…

As the authors in question are, um, dead . . .

A very strong first flush of titles there; let’s hope it’s a sign of more of the same to come…

I like the look of the Creasey a lot more than the Allingham actually – just sorry there isn’t a print-on-demand alternative.
