A Study in Burgundy

ron_burgundyMy close Hollywood sources* have told me that there is a new Holmes and Watson on the horizon for the increasing numbers of you implying that Sherlock has gone off the boil (I haven’t even caught up with the first episode yet, so don’t spoil it).

The film, named simply Holmes and Watson, sees Ron Burgundy star Will Ferrell as Holmes, with John C. Reilly as his sidekick Dr. John Watson. Ralph Fiennes and Hugh Laurie are also going to join the cast.

Mmmm, do we think this means the end of the Downey Jr./Law movies? They weren’t great, but I’d rather see another of those than Ferrell hamming it up in, frankly, anything…

‘Increasing numbers of you saying that SHERLOCK has gone off the boil’….Hmm. The first episode was the second highest rated programme that night, and last night’s episode got great reviews (and probably high ratings). Rather like the fans of stuff like DOCTOR WHO, some SHERLOCK fans hate the idea that their pet show has gained mainstream popularity and won’t be happy until it is finally cancelled (at which point they will start blaming writer/co-creator Steven Moffat for that as well…

    It will be a comedy.
