Coming soon: My Cousin Rachel

Daphne Du Maurier fans (or Poldark fans) should be on the look out for the forthcoming adaptation of historical mystery-romance My Cousin Rachel, starring Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin.

The book, which concerns a Cornish nobleman falling for his beautiful but seemingly ill-intentioned cousin, was published in 1951 and was followed almost immediately by a triple Oscar-nominated film with Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland. Tough one to beat, but at least on the evidence of the trailer the film will be more intelligible than the BBC’s Jamaica Inn.
